Google Starts Rolling Out Android 5.0 For Older Nexus Devices - Google Starts Rolling Out Over the Air updates for Android Lollipop, version 5.0 of Google's Android operating system, is rolling out to now to Nexus devices.

Wi-Fi Nexus 7s, Nexus 5, and Nexus 10 will now be able to upgrade from previous firmware KitKat to the newer update. According to the official Nexus forums, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will receive minor updates to address some bugs.

The over-the-air update for Lollipop is now starting! The update is starting for these devices: Nexus 6: Minor update to address bugs Nexus 9: Minor update to address bugs Nexus 5: Update from KitKat to Lollipop Nexus 7 WiFi (2012 & 2013): Update from KitKat to Lollipop Nexus 10: Update from KitKat to Lollipop It will also be put up on Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

Note: The OTA update for 3G/LTE versions of the Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 have not yet started, nor have they started for the Nexus 4!

Nexus users who don’t want to wait for the non-destructive Lollipop OTA update can install the factory image of Lollipop on their devices right now. Factory images are available for Nexus 10, Nexus 7 [2013] (Wi-Fi), Nexus 7 [2012] (Wi-Fi) and Nexus 5. It is advised that users back-up before installing device-wiping factory images.

Motorola smartphones were the first to receive the final build of the Android 5.0 update. The update began rolling out earlier today for second-generation Moto X "Pure Edition" and Moto G smartphones.
