Dromag - The Galaxy Grand I9082 on official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean XXUBMGA firmware can finally be rooted so today we will be checking on how to easily and safely unchain the system of your device. The root operation is complex and risky so if you want to avoid the unpleasant situations stick to the guidelines from below and don’t apply things by yourselves. Also do take note that this guide can be applied only for those who own the Samsung Galaxy Grand that is featuring the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 XXUBMGA software, the steps from below being suitable only with this device.

Android 4.2.2 XXUBMGA Jelly Bean OS has been officially released by Samsung for the Galaxy Grand so the ROM is OTA available. Anyhow, if you have flashed the firmware on your handset now you are probably looking for a root method. As you know when installing stock updates the root access gets revoked. Now, if you are trying to root your phone, use this guide as it will smoothly work for your smartphone – those who have used this method had stated the same thing.

As mentioned during the introduction, the root operation is risky and might brick your device if you mess things up. That’s why you should follow my directions. Furthermore, gaining root access is an unofficial procedure that has nothing to do with Samsung or Google; because of that by completing this step by step guide, the Galaxy Grand I9082 warranty will get void. The warranty can be restored but only if you safely get through the root operation; so if you will need the warranty back, all you will have to do will be to downgrade your handset to stock Android 4.2.2 OS, or to update with an official Android firmware (hopefully Jelly Bean 4.3 soon).

The root access must be gained by those who want to obtain more from their Android based devices. Therefore if you want to speed up your Galaxy Grand, upgrade its battery life or power up the performances, root access isn’t an option. By gaining root access you gain control over the internal system so you will be able to access the same for installing third party apps, custom ROMs, custom kernels (for enabling overclocking) not to mention that you will be able to erase in built programs. A rooted device is your new playground on which you can change, optimize and customize almost everything.

Unfortunately, by gaining root access, the data which is saved on the internal storage memory of your Galaxy Grand will be wiped out. So, first of all save what’s important for you. As you will see, after completing this guide, you will be able to perform a backup easier and faster, but until then use suitable backup and restore tools from Google Play. If possible, save the current ROM along with the EFS folder.

For being able to root your Galaxy Grand you will first have to make sure that you can use a Windows based computer, on which you should deactivate the security protection. Also, your device should be fully charged – at least charge your Grand if there is less than 60% power left. The USB debugging option must be enabled – do the same by going to “settings -> applications -> development -> USB debugging”.

Remember to use this guide only for the Grand model number I9082 that runs on official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean XXUBMGA firmware and you are good to go.
