Dromag - We explain how to update your Samsung Galaxy S3 to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean the rooting way

The Samsung Galaxy S3 can now be updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, adding in a lot of the features we saw on the Samsung Galaxy S4, but excluding many we were hoping for.

Added features include:

  • New Samsung Galaxy S4-style lockscreen
  • Daydream mode
  • Driving mode
  • Actionable notifications,
  • Addition of voice controls
  • Full-screen Samsung apps
  • New version of S-Voice
  • Smart switch widget
  • Revamped settings UI
  • Adapt Display and Professional Photo
Now, SamMobile has released the update, although you must understand, it's not an official update and can damage your device and remove all data if you do not follow it very carefully.

Please back up the data on your device before following the instructions to ensure you can transfer all your information back onto the device without a hitch after installing the update.

Neither we, nor SamMobile can be held responsible for damaging your device.

  1. First, download the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2 update package.
  2. Now, unzip the package that should have transferred to your computer.
  3. Open Odin 3.04 from the folder
  4. Restart your phone in download mode by pressing and holding Home, Power, Volume down buttons at the same time
  5. Connect your phone to your computer and a blue icon should appear in Odin.
  6. Add I9300XXUFME7_I9300OXAFME7_I9300XXUFME7_HOME.tar.md5 to PDA
  7. Untick re-partition if it's ticked
  8. Start the flash, which should take a few minutes -- do not touch your device
If you have any problems during the install, you will have to clear and reboot your device. To do this, press Home+ Power + Volume Up at the same time to start up in recovery mode. Now, select to wipe/factory reset your device.

You will lose all your data from your whole device, including anything on the microSD card installed on the device.

When the phone has rebooted, it should be operating on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Now you can reload all the data onto your device using Samsung Kies.
